In 2012, I was commissioned to make a video for What’s Next Entertainment. The piece was intended for use in their member “Crucial” Chris Dowling’s campaign for Mayor of London, representing the Official Monster Raving Loony Party.
Under their direction, the brief was to take the Queen’s Christmas Speech and subvert it. A couple of weeks back and forth with edits, and incorporating ideas from both sides, this is what we came up with.
The challenge of taking pre-existing footage from TV clips and the Loony archive to create new work was fulfilling, and the experience of working with a director instead of directing myself was an eye-opener.
The main edits were done in Abobe Premiere, with added animations and notations created in After Effects and Photoshop.
